About
I'm (Princess) Melia, an Indigenous alt-pop artist, songwriter, and creative producer from Whitehorse, Yukon, now based in Toronto. My sound pulls from R&B, electronic, and pop, blending atmospheric production, infectious beats, and emotionally raw songwriting. I write about the messy parts of being human, from mental health and relationships to identity and trauma. Whether it's a track made for the dance floor or something a little more introspective, I want my music to make people feel something.
Growing up in Whitehorse as a citizen of Kwanlin Dün First Nation, with family roots in Kaska Dena, Tahltan, Cree, and Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in communities, has shaped the way I see the world and the stories I tell. My relationship with my identity, family, and culture continues to influence my perspective as an artist and the experiences I bring into my music.
My debut album, Good Nights and Bad Days, brings together the different sides of my sound. I've performed across Ontario and the Yukon, including Dawson City Music Festival, The Guild Alive with Culture Arts Festival, and album release shows in Toronto and Whitehorse. Beyond my own artist project, I have over five years of experience in the music industry through artist development, marketing, and event production.
